Running. I've been doing it passionately for a few weeks, and it's clear I'm in love with the sport. I'm again going to give credit to Coach Bennett and the Nike Run Club app. These guys really know what they're doing. Heck. They took a 67 year old white dude and got him to love running.
But that's not the point here. Now I finally understand why a Raising Cain bandmate of mine, Steph, continually hikes mountains (and I mean 14ers folks). More than once, she's shown up ready for a gig after a casual 5AM climb that SAME DAY. That's love. It's the feeling of personal accomplishment that's so addictive, not to mention the amazing *positive physiological and psychological side-effects.
This running journey will indeed continue. My biggest challenge is listening to what my human machine is telling me, and taking appropriate action, like backing off. And learning how to listen is a really good thing.
* if that isn't a $0.50 phrase I don't know what is. I could have just said "benefits"
